The next Los Alamos County Dark Night will take place (weather permitting) on Saturday, August 8th at the Spiro Soccer Field, Overlook Park, White Rock. Sunset will be at around 8:00 pm and we will try to make it to midnight – unless the weather or fatigue interferes. The planet Saturn will be ideally located in the South near the red star Antares and its rings will be tilted nicely for a good view. If the western sky is clear, we might catch Jupiter and Mercury close together before they set around 8:40 pm. Besides the solar system objects, we can also view many of the highlights of the summer constellations. The public is invited to attend at any time during the night and to stay and wander among the telescopes for as long as they wish.
