Hike to Lake Peak and the Skyline Trail

Are you ready for a nice, long day hike in the Sangre de Christo Mountains? Join Zack Baker with PEEC and the Los Alamos Mountaineers for this beautiful hike to Lake Peak and the Skyline Trail. Participants will meet at the Santa Fe Ski Basin parking lot (Winsor Trailhead) at 8 am. Expected return to the trailhead is 3pm.
About the outing: Starting at Santa Fe ski basin via Winsor Trail, this route leads hikers up Raven's Ridge, over the peaks, and down the Skyline Trail to Winsor Trail. The group will hike over Lake Peak, Deception Peak, and Penitente Peak. Expect spectacular summer scenery and the finest views so close to Santa Fe. It's a long, but non-technical hike, so we'll start early. Total distance is 10.4 miles round-trip with about 3,000 feet of elevation gain. The morning may be chilly, so bring light layers and a raincoat in case of precipitation. Bring plenty of water, snacks, and a lunch. It is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes drive from Los Alamos to the trailhead.
About the leader: Zack Baker is leading this trip for PEEC as part of the collaboration with the Los Alamos Mountaineers. Zack is an experienced hiker and skier of the area around the Santa Fe Ski Basin and Winsor Trail areas.
