Featured Critter – North American Beaver

North American Beavers are well adapted for survival in water with a waterproof outer coat of glossy, reddish-brown fur and an undercoat of fine hairs for extra warmth. Their flat, paddle-shaped tail and webbed feet make them excellent swimmers. Signs of beavers in the area include gnawed trees, dammed waterways, and the lodges they build out of mud and straw for their home.
