Wilderness First Aid 2-Day Course

The Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) is hosting a Wilderness First Aid 2-Day Course on Saturday and Sunday, November 2-3, 2024, from 8 AM to 5 PM each day. This course, taught by Jeff DeBellis, an experienced outdoor educator with SOLO Wilderness Medicine, offers essential training for outdoor enthusiasts, trip leaders, and those who spend time in remote or rural areas.

Participants will learn crucial first aid skills needed to handle injuries, illnesses, and emergency situations in the backcountry. The course features hands-on practice and real-world scenarios, helping participants build confidence in responding to wilderness emergencies.

Jeff DeBellis has been teaching wilderness medicine with SOLO since 2015 and brings a wealth of experience leading trips throughout the Southwest, Rocky and Appalachian Mountains, and abroad. SOLO is the longest-running wilderness medicine school in the world, known for its high-quality, experiential training.

The cost is $230 for PEEC members and $285 for non-members. Advanced registration is required. The course fee includes two full days of instruction, a textbook, a Wilderness First Aid certification valid for two years, and a catered lunch on Saturday. Participants are asked to bring a sack lunch on Sunday, and a supply list will be emailed prior to the event.
