Featured Critter – American Robin

American robins, often considered a harbinger of spring, are ubiquitous in the area, particularly during summer when they can be seen hopping and running around backyards and fields. These large songbirds are mostly brown with reddish-orange breasts and a distinctive black and white striped throat. American robins are known for their “robin’s egg blue” eggs and for being the “early bird” that catches the worm.
