Community Letter from the National Wildlife Federation Community Wildlife Habit

To The Los Alamos Community:

On behalf of the National Wildlife Federation®, we are pleased to congratulate Los Alamos on
participating in the Community Wildlife HabitatTM program for almost 10 years. They were the
first community in New Mexico to certify in 2015 and they have re-certified every year since.
During their time in the program, Los Alamos helped to certify hundreds of properties in the
Certified Wildlife Habitat® program. They also engaged their residents through several education
and outreach events including tabling at the annual Earth Day Festival, offering programming to
students and families and hosting garden tours. This is just a small snapshot of the great work that
the community has completed over the years.

Los Alamos’ accomplishments would not be possible without the contributions of their community
wildlife habitat team, which include Selvi and Hari Viswanathan, Richard and Hedy Dunn, Laura
Loy and Michele Altherr, as well as the countless volunteers and local partners who helped the
community create and maintain wildlife habitat.

The National Wildlife Federation is proud to have a community like Los Alamos as part of our
national network of communities that have chosen to make creating wildlife habitat and
sustainable gardening practices an important priority. Congratulations on this amazing impact and
we look forward to seeing all that you continue to accomplish in the years to come!
