The Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) invites the community to the Annual PEECnic Member Meeting & Membership Appreciation Event on Saturday,
October 10th, from 1 to 3 PM at the Los Alamos Nature Center. This free, public event welcomes everyone—PEEC members, non‐members, neighbors, and friends—to learn about PEEC and enjoy an afternoon of hands‐on activities, close-up critter encounters, snacks and much more.
PEECnic is a highlight of the Fall season and a perfect opportunity for new visitors to explore the nature center and learn about the benefits of PEEC membership. Staff and volunteers will be available to share PEEC’s mission, programs, and resources, while educators offer insights into local wildlife and ecology. Anyone who becomes a member during PEECnic will receive an extra month added to their membership.
PEECnic also serves as the organization’s annual member meeting. Current members will have the opportunity to cast ballots for new and renewing Board candidates, and both current and prospective Board members will be available throughout the event for conversation and community connection.
This year’s PEECnic will be led by PEEC’s Visitor Services Manager, Nic, and will feature critter experts, yard games, sidewalk art, story time, and planetarium access. The event will take place rain or shine.

- Board Election Table: Members can cast ballots for new and renewing Board candidates and meet current and prospective Board members. Learn more about who’s up for election or re-election at peecnature.org/prospective-board.
- PEEC Membership Table: Visitors can learn about PEEC membership, sign up to join, and receive an extra month added to memberships purchased during PEECnic.
- Bird Expert Bob Walker: Discover the birds in your own backyard through insights and conversation with Bob in the Observation Room.
- “Nature Up Close” Critter Interactions: Meet PEEC’s critter experts and get an up‐close look at some of our animal ambassadors.
